The Jayhawk Welcome Center is open for
campus tours by prospective students
and their families— as well as events and
programs for current students, alumni,
and the KU and Lawrence communities.
Our door is open as a home for Jayhawks
of all ages.
The building contains six interactive
exhibits that visitors can explore to learn
about the Jayhawk experience and KU’s
history, achievements, alumni networks,
and traditions.
The Jayhawk Welcome Center houses
the front office of KU Admissions
and hosts nearly 1,000 students and
families weekly for campus visits.
The building connects to the Adams
Alumni Center, headquarters of the
KU Alumni Association, and provides
dynamic stories that demonstrate
what it means to be a Jayhawk.

Hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays
EEEC includes Ritchie Hall and
Slawson Hall (featuring exhibits of
a mosasaur chasing a sea turtle and
2 billion years of geologic history
in the G-hawk courtyard). The
center’s high-tech spaces bring geology and
engineering students, faculty, researchers,
and professionals together to focus on our
planet, our environment, and energy and
resources for humanity.

The Commons promotes dialogue across
disciplines through programs such as
conferences, exhibits, workshops, and
lectures for the university community
and the public. No public events are
currently being held in Spooner Hall,
but programming is active across
campus and the community.
The center supports, creates, and
disseminates research in the humanities;
provides an intellectual hub for scholars
and students in the humanities, arts, and
humanistic social sciences; and fosters
interdisciplinary conversation.
DANFORTH CHAPEL

Danforth Chapel is nondenominational
and provides a quiet place for individual
meditation and prayer as well as weddings,
student organization gatherings, and other
special occasions. To reserve the space
reach out to a member of the KU Memorial
Unions staff at eventservices@ku.edu
Hours: Danforth Chapel is open to the
public 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
Groups may use the facility during this
time if the chapel remains accessible to
the general public during use. Danforth
Chapel is closed when KU is closed,
including holidays, holiday weekends, and

KU’s performing-arts venue features a
2,000-seat auditorium and a 200-seat
pavilion. It hosts world-class artists as
well as KU student performances from the
School of Music and other departments.
It also serves as a space for community
events, lectures by notable political and
cultural figures, and more.

Adjoining the Lied Center is Bales Organ
Recital Hall, one of the finest organ
facilities in the country. All concerts held
in the hall are open to the public and most
without charge.

KU Theatre manages the Crafton-Preyer
Theatre (capacity 1,130), and the William
Inge Memorial Theatre (80-130).
Tickets to University Theatre productions
and other events in Crafton-Preyer and

or by visiting the box office in Murphy Hall
lobby, noon-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and one
hour before performances.

The KU School of Music manages events in
the Swarthout Recital Hall (capacity 272)
and the Robert Baustian Theatre (100).
Performances in Swarthout Recital Hall
are free and open to the public. For tickets
to opera performances in the Baustian
Theatre, call 785-864-3436.
