LIPPINCOTT HALL LIPP (1905)*
STYLE:
Greek Revival NAMED FOR: KU’s fourth
chancellor, Joshua Lippincott. Until 1978, this was
the School of Law building; the statue of founding
dean “Uncle Jimmy” Green with a student is by
noted sculptor Daniel Chester French, who also
created the Lincoln Memorial. The Office of
Study Abroad, among other units, is housed here.
SNOW HALL SNOW (1930)
STYLE:
Collegiate Gothic NAMED FOR: KU’s fifth
chancellor, Francis Snow, who was hired in 1866
to teach natural history as one of KU’s three
original faculty members. This is the second hall
named for him; the first was on what is now the
lawn of Watson Library and was razed in 1934.
Mathematics, economics, environmental studies,
and some architecture studios and offices are
housed here.
